CWLA Scripture Verse "to whom much is given, much is required" (Luke 12:48)

The Nature of Our Program
CWLA follows a preparatory track. It is not necessarily a school for little geniuses (although they are welcome). A student of average intelligence who wishes to study hard and honor God should flourish with our Trivium-based classical format. Please understand that at this time all learning occurs in a group environment. If your child requires continual one-on-one instruction, we currently do not have the resources to provide this. In addition to our core subjects, this year's specials include: Music, Art, PE, SongSchool Latin or Latin, and Leadership. PE and Latin occur twice per week. Art and Music Appreciation is once a week. Art and Music projects, as well as, Leadership Development is integrated with the curriculum.

School Hours
We follow a 5 day/week, Monday - Friday format. First -Sixth Grade students attend school from 8:30am – 3:30pm. Kindergarten students may attend full or half-day. Full-day kindergarten students will have an hour of rest time. We publish our parent/student handbook yearly (usually in August) that includes the full school year's calendar.

Tuition
We have decided to set the lowest possible tuition rate, while still maintaining the highest academic standards. The 2012-2013 tuition is $4000./year. You may choose to pay $400/month for 10 months starting July 1, or $335/month for 12 months starting June 1.

There are need-based scholarships available, but you must apply early. We ask that families who receive scholarship funding work an agreed upon number of hours at the school or the thrift store unless and undue hardship is determined. We are actively pursuing several streams of revenue to keep quality Christian schooling available for all parents who believe that educating their children in this manner is paramount. We will do everything in our power to work with families who understand the value of a private Classical Christian K-12 education. However, we are looking for parents who wish to be active participants in the school community.

Other Fees
Text Books/Workbooks………………Please budget approximately $170 for the consumable workbook pages that your child will consume, and/or for some hard cover rented books.

Student’s School Supplies…………A school supply is published in our parent-student handbook in August. You may also pick one up from the school office. Please bring these supplies to school on meet the teacher night.

School Location
We are located in the beautiful Gashland Presbyterian Church Campus at 8029 N. Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, Missouri 64118. You may view photos of our facility by clicking HERE.

Uniforms
Please wait to purchase uniforms until your child has been accepted. Once your child has been accepted, do not delay in purchasing uniforms in case your size is not in stock and needs to be ordered. Academy uniforms must be purchased at Educational Outfitters. Their prices are very reasonable, and we are well pleased with the quality and durability of their products. The shirts and pants seem to run small, so keep this in mind when ordering. Their phone number is (913)495-9488. Their web site is
www.EducationalOutfitters.com

CWLA uniform specifics are listed with this company only. The girl’s uniform is a traditional navy plaid jumper with a white blouse underneath. There is also a skirt option for girls. (One or the other are required. Of course, you may purchase both if you so choose.) Girls should wear navy stretch shorts under their jumper. These shorts are available at Educational Outfitters, but may also be purchased elsewhere. The uniform skirt is constructed as a skort, so additional shorts are not necessary underneath it. The boy’s uniform consists of khaki or navy slacks and a white shirt with a solid navy tie. The navy tie may be a clip on or a regular tie. Boys must wear a brown, navy, or khaki belt that coordinate with the slacks. The Educational Outfitters store has belt options that are managable for even Kindergarten-aged boys. Optional sweaters and vests for boys and girls may be purchased if desired. All boys and girls must have at least one blazer with the CWLA logo, as this will be considered their dress uniform.

All in-class wear must have the Educational Outfitter’s logo. All tops must have the CWLA logo. The only exception is with your child’s footwear, and the navy underneath shorts for girls. Socks and shoes may be purchased at your retailer of choice, but they must align with our policy as follows. Girls may wear white or navy blue knee socks or hose/tights and navy blue leather Mary Jane style shoes. Boys should wear brown or black leather shoes and brown, khaki, or white socks (not footlets). Please wait to purchase uniforms until your child has been accepted.
