Home School Study Hall

What is the Study Hall Option? CWLA’s Study Hall is for homeschooled children only. This is not a schooling program or a replacement for a solid home School curriculum. Study Hall is designed for children and youth who are capable of working independently. (Approximate Grade Range: 4th – 10th ) Study Hall provides a structured environment that promotes a disciplined learning atmosphere. The 7-hour day is broken into 4 study blocks, and it includes a morning devotional, P.E., lunch break, and morning and afternoon recess/snack breaks. A CWLA teacher facilitates the study hall. The teacher is available to offer encouragement and limited assistance. The teacher does not teach individual lessons to every child.

Just for Homeschoolers!

Tuesday - Thursday
8:30am - 3:30pm

Study Hall Planner

Parents will be given a Study Hall Planner to complete, so the student and facilitating teacher know what the student should be working on during each block. The 2 morning study blocks are 1.5 hours each, and the 2 afternoon study blocks are 1 hour each.

What if the student finishes all their assigned work early?

If the student finishes his/her work early, please provide auxiliary reading material or simple art project. Please do not bring video games, cell phones, or other electronic devises. Students may bring a laptop for work purposes only.

CWLA strives to create an atmosphere that encourages scholarship and faithful study habits. Video games and other such devices are very distracting to some students and work against our goal of providing a disciplined environment. We believe the Study Hall schedule provides students with ample break time and exercise.

Do I need to bring the student’s immunizations records?

Parents must supply CWLA with current immunization records, as Home School Study Hall students are subject the academy’s rules regarding illness and contagious conditions.

Study Hall Fees

There is a $15 yearly enrollment fee for each student. To be eligible for the following rates, you must enroll your student for the semester.

 1.        The fee is $30/day for the first student and $25/day for each additional sibling.

 2.        You may enroll your student for 1 or 2 days per week, in rare cases 3 days/week.

 3.        You may choose to pay by the semester or by the month.

 4.        All payment should be made by the first of the month. The payment should be for the number of study hall days that fall within that month. This can vary monthly.

 5.        If your student misses due to illness, he/she may make up the day during that week or the next week if space allows. The same applies to snow days.

Does Study Hall accept walk-ins?

Yes, we will accept walk-ins if there is space available. It is best if you call the day before. The price for non-enrolled students is $35/day with no multiple-child discounts.

Are uniforms required?

Yes, a very simple uniform is mandatory, as this helps the student get into work/study mode and contributes to a disciplined learning environment. The Study Hall uniform consists of a solid white or solid pale blue polo shirt (emblem free), navy or khaki slacks for boys, navy or khaki slacks/or skirt for girls. Slacks and skirts should be uniform-style and not form fitting with spandex. Girl’s skirts should be no shorter than 2” above the knee.

Shoes should be light brown or any dark color with rubber soles that can also be used for P.E.  Plain white or navy socks may be worn with skirts. Study Hall students should not purchase CWLA academy uniforms.
